THE PROGRAM

The B.Des Structural civil design is a specialty within the field of civil design which focuses on the framework of structures, and on designing those structures to withstand the stresses and pressures of their environment and remain safe, stable and secure throughout their use.

B.Des Structural Design degree plays a vital role in fulfilling the societal infra-structural needs and demand. Structural design is based upon applied knowledge of the structural performance of different materials and geometries. Structural design uses a number of relatively simple structural concepts to build complex structural systems.

Structural Civil Design course makes the student independent structural designer by covering all the gaps in the education. The Structural Design degree course at BSD focuses on planning and designing of industrial and residential buildings, water supply and sanitation systems and transportation infrastructure. Course enables the student to scheme, design an entire project & produce detailed drawings. This course is Affiliated to Mysore University through our Academic Partnership with Cresta School of Management. The degree awarder will be a Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Structural Design.

ELECTIVES AND SKILL ENHANCEMENT 

The B. Des Structural Design course is equipped to cater to individual students and their skills. Imbibing the essence of the New Education Policy, the B.Des program offers students a holistic and well-rounded education. Each semester has value addition subjects that are offered as electives and skill enhancement courses. The student can choose any one allied course for the elective subjects to enrich their training. All skill development subjects are designed to provide versatile life skills that enhance career opportunities. Open Electives offered by the B.Des Structural Design course are Alternative Building Materials and Technologies, Design and Drawing of Bridges, Solid Waste Management and Town Planning.

Students are also provided with certification for completing software programs that enhances their portfolios.
  • We assign real projects as practical work and help the students clarifying all the doubts that might have in the design process.
  • Our initiative, ‘Studio BSD’, is a live in-house organization that works on live projects across the country. Students are given the opportunity to collaborate and learn from experts in a professional environment.
  • We cover scheme design, detailed load calculation, Analysis, Design & Detailing which help the students to experience the whole design cycle.
  • BSD’s network and connect to the industry both national and international, give students the benefit of not just learning from renowned designers from different backgrounds, but also provides them with a vast network that gives them an advantage to start their career.
  • Construction and Project Management is taught as a core subject which provides additional skills to handle projects and prepare students as professionals.
